This project was implemented at a large-scale wastewater treatment facility in Bangladesh, focusing on channels above treatment pits and maintenance walkways.
The site presented complex layouts with irregular openings, and the environment was continuously humid with corrosive elements. This demanded steel grating that was stable, functional, and easy to install.
The client was not only concerned about load-bearing capacity but also emphasized smooth installation, long-term safety, and ease of maintenance.
During initial planning, the client identified several practical concerns:
Gratings above wastewater channels must prevent tools or small objects from falling into the pits.
Panels are relatively heavy and solid, making manual handling and installation challenging.
Panels need to be lifted for inspections and cannot obstruct personnel movement.
Some openings were fan-shaped, so standard rectangular panels were unsuitable.
Using standard gratings would have required significant modifications and on-site adjustments, increasing risk and project complexity.
For these fan-shaped openings, we developed fully customized panels.
Special molds were fabricated prior to production to ensure each panel matched the site openings exactly, eliminating the need for cutting or rework on-site.
This approach ensured smooth installation, precise alignment, and efficient maintenance, reducing downtime and labor effort.
Considering the load requirements, environmental conditions, and panel dimensions, we selected a composite structure combining patterned steel grating with additional reinforcement.
This design offered:
High structural strength and long-term stability suitable for installation above wastewater channels.
Prevention of small objects falling through to avoid operational hazards.
Ease of handling relative to single solid panels, while maintaining durability.
Due to the panels’ size and weight, we recommended recessed handles to simplify installation and ongoing maintenance.

Each panel features two ergonomically placed handles for lifting.
Handles are positioned to avoid load-bearing bars, preserving panel strength.
When not in use, handles recess below the grating surface, eliminating any tripping hazards for personnel.
This simple but practical design improved installation efficiency and workplace safety.

Panels fit directly into the designated openings without modification.
Handles made lifting, alignment, and positioning much easier and faster.
The finished grating was level and stable, ensuring safe walking for personnel.
The project involved 500 tons of steel grating, completed on schedule, fully tested, and quality-checked before shipment.
